what's your take on artists changing the boob size on the characters they do fan art of?
Sakisakimi on Instagram: “Viper~ Hd set/spicy/PSD et...
i feel like it's sacrificing a bit of the character itself for the sake of lewds...
but then i remember the artist explicitly makes lewd art so...
i dunno (LOL) I'm ok with it i guess
Mark (CG)
i would prefer if the lewd art is more true to the character, because like in this case it would be more like the artist is doing their preferred body type with the "skin" of a character, if that makes sense?
Mark (CG)
is the distinction between "i want to jerk off to the character" and "i want to jerk off to this artistic interpretation of the character" too subtle a distinction to matter, though? it might very well not
Mark (CG)
but then how many attributes of a character can you change before it could be argued that you're not making a drawing of a character but drawing a cosplayer doing that character cuz the differences have become too distracting? (lmao)

Oh, my friend who loves drawing told me once that Sakimi is one of the "boob belly" artists. I honestly don't enjoy most of Sakimi's art because many of them really lose their personalities in the art. I had found many fans of the characters drawn by Sakimi described the experience as "it's beautiful as art, but it's not the character I know." (haha)
Mark (CG)
tell me more about the concept of "boob belly" this is a new term to me (LOL)
マイク
well tbh, it's okay though to change style with boobs. Creator's One Piece and JoJo did that so i see nothing wrong here unless there were purist.
Mark (CG)
who's Creator?

In short, it's the way the breast drawn so low that sometimes the breast looked like it was part of the belly instead of chest. It's just weird and unnatural anatomy. (haha)

Shimarin
too much skin! (LOL)
Mark (CG)
don't worry, her ultimate ability makes her wear a full face mask so no more skin showing (lmao) https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EZehZsHVAAAQG68.jpg

I'd prefer if the artists stick with the original character design. changing a part kinda makes it a different character.

Lol I just learned a new term today too. Also that is some exag art. Pwede nmn fan arts pero if super iba na like the boobs or other parts eh iba n tlga. Ah the things artists can do.

(LOL) all i can say is second hand anger from an acquaintance who seriously hates Sakimi's style of art. she hates how they change or don't follow rational anatomy aesthetic, shitty perspectives and etc~ as for me...i don't follow them so idc...
pansikoser
but in general, my preference in fan art rendition. i usually prefer close to reference or good aesthetics. i view the kind of fanart Sakimi do as fan service, they've got a following who prefers the type of art. so pleasing them obviously comes near top priority than any other.
Mark (CG)
would you say that irrational anatomy and whatnot are okay if, say, it's an original work like in a comic or manga where the creator has full creative freedom to do just that? Wait isn't there a subreddit about that...

"i view the kind of fanart Sakimi do as fan service" <- exactly my thought too. if i'm a fan of the character, i wouldn't mind the changes, but don't expect me to be a fan of your art, i guess. i'm just not your market (LOL)
Mark (CG)
what do you call fanservice when it's a fan and not the creator doing the service? fanfanservice? (LOL)
wanderer
it's called an exploit //runs
Mark (CG)
does a character's body fall under "Death of the Author", then? lol
Mark (CG)
"No I know it looks like she has a C-cup, but in my headcanon her cannons are as large as my head"
wanderer
maybe at a certain point, it does? (LOL)

» does a character's body fall under "Death of the Author", then? lol
Mark (CG) : to me, I tend to think so. once a work is out there, people will reimagine it. it's kind of part of the deal when people interact with works. I think that's also part of how fan art is: something would change, whether due to fanartists' lack of skill, preference or both.
