ok there was actually an even older one I was going to go with but on further consideration I think I can disqualify it on the basis that I don’t really remember shit about any of the characters. so instead I will go with the one I spent like all of middle school thinking about which was like, an anti-government terrorist group that worked in pairs

working in pairs cute, already a good concept

with one half of each pair being more behind the scenes and one being more fieldwork and by that I specifically mean like, shounen fighting the cops with crime-themed skillsets

I think there were only three cop characters and I don’t remember anything about the third. but the other two were identically small and angry boy-girl twins

I don’t remember their names at all. unfortunately I do remember some of the terrorists’ names because they just went by horrible codewords

hahaha. I mean, you know what I named my middle school OCs, so

I am in no position to judge

the two pairs I remember the best are Static (frontlines) and Chameleon (handler) wherein Static was an electronics/engineering specialist who made shit like taser gloves and Chameleon was a disguise artist who had cut off her own nose so she could wear like whatever prosthetic size/shape nose she wanted

in hindsight it actually makes more sense for the engineer to be the handler and the disguise artist to be in the field but that was not what I envisioned at the time. they’re very genki/stoic sunshine-stonefaced dynamic when Chameleon is actually being herself

and the other one is Shadow and Bullet, wherein Shadow is very good at illegal surveillance because he is a stalker and Bullet is just a berserker

his crime specialty is he goes into a dissociative state and commits atrocities

Chamleon's concept is cute though with the nose

they were both actually kind of shy/awkward and worked well together largely on the basis that they were bad at talking to anyone else

and also the basis that Shadow was Bullet’s stalker. you know

there were like three more pairs but I don’t remember anything about anyone else except Toxen who was a poisoner and a little shit

but whoever the fuck that person was they’re gone from my memory now. I think they were like the doctor to Toxen’s terrible, terrible nurse
