there is a category called "moving violation" i.e. when your car is in motion or running, which most things fall under; parking violations are classed completely separately and you're not going to be arrested for parking tickets while they're running your plates for a moving issue

your insurance will go down at least a little for every six month insurance coverage period with no accidents. it does take a few years of no claims for you to get back the Good Driver discount a lot of companies offer, but there are still those small drops in the meantime
