TINKY WINKY vs. THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT

i will give my mother this, she went out of her way to spite jerry falwell and bought tellytubbies stuff

i remember this going on at the time

back then, my littlest brother and the kids at my mother's daycare (for context, she ran an in-home daycare) were obsessed with this show

but then i remember being like

"imma going to buy stuff from this show" because she thought the whole thing was hysterical

not my brother, but my oldest nephew. poe was my littlest brother's favorite and he gave this doll to our nephew

but oh, man, those were good times

because everyone just laughed off jerry falwell

and no one turned gay from it. if anything, we were all like "oh, that's just tinky winky"

because my mother grew up irish catholic (and because her mother was like her but to the Extreme) she has never been really fond of people like jerry falwell and legitimately gets pissed with this stuff lol

actually, back then, she wasn't as bad as she is now. but she still wasn't perfect and cheerful, either
