you know, I've generally been resisting getting into vtubers because it just seems like a lot to keep up with, but... Gura

i mean ... she's an incredibly effective gateway drug vtuber, from casual observation

i mean speaking as someone deep in the rabbit hole: there's such a gigantic ecosystem of clip channels you can get by without setting aside tons of huge chunks of time

Yeah. We call it the rabbit hole for a reason, and I only gave up and fell in when I had a ton of time on my hands being sick and in quarantine, but you can always just sit and watch some clips.

it's not usually considered polite to bring up their other identities publicly even when it's pretty common knowledge

Yeah. We in the community call it "forbidden knowledge," unless the streamer is very open about their identity (or keep continuity with their previous life, like, say, Hana).

Some people go out of their way to learn, but others try to avoid it. I only know the identities of three Holomembers, and very reluctantly.

gura's done nods back to that identity but yeah, it is both the worst-kept secret and also not meant to be publicly named

i accepted that i was going to keep finding out and just decided to learn, but i'm not thrilled about the ways i initially found some of them

in some ways that's less invasive than the ways i found some identities, last year, where i would literally get recced their previous/other channels instead of some skeevy gossip channel outing them via tiny clips divorced from their original channel source >_<
