my only Real exposure is the mobbage haha
but yeah essentially theres many many timelines, and when one is deemed a dead end for whatever reason (too disastrous for humanity, or even too fragile- one is by all rights a utopia but remove One thing and itd fall apart),

the world itself 'prunes' it, bringing it to an end to put the otherwise wasted energy into the other timelines.

like it takes a lot to be a singularity really
and resolving it generally just
blasts everyones memories on their own, the only dead are those who died during the singularity, etc
