When Mitch McConnell was in law school, he witnessed the signing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the one he opposes today.

He was invited by his Sen. John Sherman Cooper who worked for its passage. As an intern, McConnell also worked on civil rights, a natural fit since he was a campus activist for civil rights even attending the March of Washington.

This is a reminder of how low he has fallen from his original beliefs and how much he has contorted himself in pursuit of his one and only guiding principle - power

Gee, what happened?

No mistake, while the antics are happening left and right, he's always razor focused on his goal to permanently change the judicial branch. He's a shrewd little fuck.

I hate him.

Political ambition.

He was also pro-choice. But Reaganism shrunk the Republican tent no matter that he liked to talk big tent. Then the Contract for American demanded absolute orthodoxy from all.

To be clear, this is no defense of McConnell. It is an indictment of someone who obviously knows better but makes a conscious choice against his own conscience in the pursuit of power.
