I have to confess my family owns one of those pool gators, but we got it for like $20 at Walmart as a Father's Day present for my dad like 5 years ago

Maybe it was a Canadian thing, but yeah, there was a cheaper version at Walmart. And I'll tell you right now, it's a piece of junk. I like it, but it's not built to last in any meaningful way.

The battery compartment for the light up eyes leaks, so the light up eyes lasted less than one season before water got into it and permanently destroyed the electronics.

Also, the metal rings that hold the body segments together rusted and fell apart. We put it back together with plastic zip ties.
