i dreamed i was gonna drive out to buy groceries but then i heard the sergeant say there was a snowstorm coming as he walked down the street with another officer and i turned the car back around and drove back to the secret hidden cave mansion i'd been visiting and we decided i'd stay for the weekend

but for some reason i went with this other girl to...paint? the floors? there was a pail of what looked like black paint and we were spreading it by kicking it and wiping down the blobs it left behind with a towel we moved around with our feet

how that worked was we chased the paint bucket so whoever got to it first got to kick

also the path was super narrow and zigzaggy and eventually turned into a rickety branching pathway with old wooden railings and a bottomless drop and the other girl broke down in tears over something or other and

anyway i pointed out to her that the paint seemed to fade away on its own if left alone (was it really paint?) and then we reached a cave entrance and our new task was to take these big square folded cloths (blankets? something else?) and push them across the field like how they wipe floorboards in anime

as i neared the outer end of the field following the creek i saw the sergeant again and once again overheard him talking to someone about something important but i don't remember exactly what

oh there was a segue about sherlock holmes and how today was a special day (his birthday?) so everyone was modding this one game so i kept seeing the same scene over and over again

it involved sherlock leading a small group of people to a large floor vase and going Aha! and starting to say something about how it related to the mystery

then there was the scene but now he's tiny and cute, then this time he's been rugratsified (he looked kinda like stu), then he was literally just didi and his lines had been changed so she was clearly making stuff up while hinting at the kids to go while she distracts the others

anyway so we scrubbed down that field, trying to wipe out all the tall grass and frogs (someone mentioned there were frogs in this field so we hoped some would survive to get frozen in the snowstorm so they wouldn't search too far for them)

but then at the far left edge of the field we ran into a man who i guess was one of the grownups and when he heard we'd met the sage he stormed into the field demanding we lead him to her and we tried to stop him and said you don't find the sage, she finds you

he was very dissatisfied by this but he was the one who'd said that line in the first place so he couldn't argue it

oh there was also a part where there was a huge doorway that led into a hall to somewhere but once i went through i couldn't go back again because the doors were stuck shut and the big tall windows were so dark you couldn't even make out shapes through them but i heard someone saying something about how only kids could go through
