The leading theory is that the colony ship got knocked off course during it's journey and ended up having to course correct to the nearest star system before all the colonists died
The dazed and injured crew were killed by Sparri warriors, but the ship's NHP, Prudent Interval, made a hail mary play and went for impersonating a goddess to survive
They claimed that the Union soldiers had been demons, crueling holding them from their people, and asked to be brought to their capital so they could properly guide their people
Under the guidance of Prudent Interval the goddess Ynneval, the Sparri people advanced QUITE quickly, eventually forming a society where the clans were ruled by an elite priesthood, which was in turn ruled by an NHP that was getting more and more cascaded as the years passed
Around 4000u, Union made another attempt to make contact. By this point the NHP FULLY believed her cover story, and declared the new arrivals to be more demons
Unfortunately for her, the "Demons" arrived with machine guns and laser rifles so the iron age Sparri couldn't do shit to them. Fighting was over in a matter of days and Ynnerval/Prudent Interval was destroyed
They don't use the omninet and do all their trading in person, but it's generally agreed upon that if you want to find something that no one else can find, you can probably get it from the Voladores
They live in matrilinial communities, usually on convoys of spaceships, they are wierdly tall, they never take off their full body environment suits, and they never invite outsiders into their communities
SecComm's massive wave of expansion was made possible in part by buying star charts of inhabitable planets from the Voladores, but then SecComm tried to force them to integrate into Union's culture and they all just quietly vanished from Union's territory until after the rise of ThirdComm
the Ungratefuls are very suspicious about Union, which they see as an enabler of Karrakis, but Union is apparently none the less trying to slip agents in to help the Ungratefuls out on the down low, because Union is NOT wild about how the Barons do business
something i've noticed about lancer that works REALLY well is that there are a bajillion different ways to hook your characters into a common organization that has a bunch of different campaign hooks built in
The Albatross is an order of relativistic knights who are known for sailing between the stars at relativistic speeds, endlessly chasing calls for help.
Each Albatross wing is able to deploy usually around 200 mech chassis, along with squads of heavy infantry and medium sized subline attack ships, and each has a monastery HQ somewhere that is staying more or less in step with real time
MSMC is one of the largest mercenary companies in the galaxy. They'll hire anyone who can sign their name and they'll do any job that they can get a Union official to sign off on as not a war crime.
Mirrorsmoke members get their past scrubbed from the record and become new people, often going by a callsign and abandoning their old name (especially if their old name had a few bounties or warrants out for it)

The nicknames given to the company’s lawyers are much worse
