[environment] ok the stupidest comment on the internet has been said, everyone can go home now

(I'm sure there's stupider out there, but this is the stupidest I've seen here)

"the environment exists to provide us with resources to live our lives"

this is... sensible? somehow?

honestly I'm not fond of either of these arguments; the first one is very "poor people having children is the biggest problem for the environment," which... no?
and the second is just willful denial of the concept of scarcity

This is a very Christian dominionist view of the environment. The environment doesn't have a purpose, but if it was created by God to provide for humanity, then it "makes sense" that it'll just keep doing so!
