That is very true. It's just not a name I'd wish on anyone now that it is a thing.

Oh, it's definitely an unfortunate name to have in a post-Fight Club world.

But 1999 (or 1996 for the book's publication date) wasn't that long ago, so there's a good chance that if they didn't choose it as the world's red flaggiest pen name, it was a perfectly reasonable thing to name a kid when they were born.

Because it really is of the "open a phone book and pick one" school of character names.

Yeah, if they had it first I can allow a certain degree of 'that's my name, asshole.'
