Aaand all the nice bras that I like are part of bra/panty sets when I don't need or want any more panties. Of course. X3
spooki li
it VERY much depends on the band size
spooki li
if you need a 34 band, the Adoreme won't work, because its conversation chart shows that its 34-ish band expects you to have lil boobs.
spooki li
But, the good news is that if American Gs truly work for you, there are a bunch more options than there used to be!
spooki li
Bras : Target
For example, here are some options from Target. :-)

If the idea of ordering bras online and returning ones that don't fit doesn't fill you with TOO much dread, I'd actually recommend starting off with Amazon. Take advantage of their free shipping and returns to get a bunch of different bras and get a better sense of what you need from a bra.

Adjust the band size in this search as needed. :-)

Wacoal: This brand......... VARIES a lot, almost comically. I've found some that fit me great, others in the same size and style that Did Not. ~50-70 USD. Your best bet if you're looking in an American department store and can find 'em on sale for 20-30.
spooki li
Bali: Kind of boring, but one of the more affordable options. You can definitely find them on sale for 14 USD, they range up to 45 USD.
spooki li
Fruit of the Loom: idk what a bra is, these just kind of go over your chest (12 USD, but seriously they don't really do structured bras, and you'll want structure)
spooki li
Fantasie: deep breath here, because I personally hate them due to irreconcilable fit issues, but they make good-quality bras. 60-80, on sale for 30-50; MUCH more consistent then Wacoal. A LOT of people absolutely swear by their Rebecca Spacer Bra for comf. UK brand, uses UK sizing. American G = UK F.
spooki li
Panache: If you are a 34 band, and you like the way Panache cups fit, you might need cups that are narrower and deeper, in which case you'll have my sympathies and should be checking out Polish options. be aware that Panache bands are very FIRM, which means that a new one might fit tighter than you expect. UK brand, UK sizing. 60-80, on sale for 50.
spooki li
(I specify the "if you are a 34 band" bit because Panache cups scale a bit unfortunately; 36 and 38 bands have wider cups, proportionately. So this thing about narrow, deep cups really only applies to 30-34 bands.)
spooki li
Natori: Man, I still miss my Natoris. They do some very comfy bras. 60-70, but you can absolutely find them on sale for 30. They do nice "t-shirt bras", aka bras with just a little bit of padding to look nicer (smoother) under t-shirts.
spooki li
Wacoal, Panache, and a few of the others also do "junior" lines, which are cheaper (and more cheaply made), but also come in more fun patterns sometimes. b.tempt'd (Wacoal), Cleo (Panache).
spooki li
These are good options too if you're just trying to get a feel for the brand's sizing.
spooki li
Other brands of note: Freya and Curvy Kate. These are two more UK brands. Freya generally has softer, stretchier bands, while Curvy Kate has attempted to do bigger cups on smaller bands for less of a markup than typical.
spooki li
As a general note, I'd avoid spending more than $50 on anything American and "matrix"-sized, e.g. 34-38 A-DDD, because I guarantee you it didn't cost anywhere near that much to make, and also American companies are kind of in love with push-up bras, which are bad for your tissue.
spooki li
I used to swear by Soma Intimates bras, but I haven't worn them in like a decade so I have no idea if they're any good now. ._.
spooki li
Once you've found a brand you like, BareNecessities Dot Com is pretty good for shopping, just beware the inconsistency of bra sizes.
spooki li
If a bra comes in A B C D DD DDD G, that's American sizing. (Sometimes it will also have an H or even an I at the end.)
spooki li
If it comes in A B C D DD E F FF G GG H HH J JJ, K, KK etc., that's UK, Italian, or Australian sizing. (Some brands do also include I / i) (yes, no double E; no, I don't know why)
spooki li
If it comes in A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P, that's EU, French, or Japanese sizing, though few brands go as big as O.
spooki li
(There is also AA, which is, unlike the other double letters, smaller than a standard A cup; USA, UK, France, and Australia all sometimes do AA cups.)
spooki li
EU, France, and Japan all do their band sizes in five centimeter increments instead of two inch increments, so a 32 is a 70, a 34 is a 75, etc. These aren't a perfect match. While not a universal truth, French bands tend to be smaller, or less stretchy, than other bands, so you may find you're more comfortable in an 80 than a 75 if you're a 34.
spooki li
Australia (and apparently New Zealand) have also decided to be extra frustrating, so they don't use inches or centimeters; instead, their bras are sized vaguely like "dress sizes", with a 34 being a 12 and a 26 being a 14. Thanks, AU, very helpful.
spooki li
Finally: UK and US brands, as a rule, are wide and shallow. I think this is because someone who needs deep cups can get a better, if still poor, fit from a wide and shallow bra than someone who needs wide cups can get from a deep and narrow bra — so, more people can make it work, and more people will therefore buy your product.
spooki li
"EU" is obviously a really wide category, and as you can already see, "EU" sizing doesn't even include parts of the EU like France and Italy which play by their own rules. I've never actually bought an Italian bra, but my experiences with French and Polish bras are that they tend to be deeper. Like, I'm over here needing GG from a UK brand, but there's at
spooki li
least two French brands where I can just wear a G, even though that should be significantly smaller, since French bras don't do double letters (except for AA).
spooki li
If you find that you need deep and narrow, Polish bras tend to be significantly cheaper than French bras for the same quality, and definitely try to avoid buying French bras from American bra boutiques, where you're going to be paying anywhere from 90-300 USD for one.
spooki li
(This is partly the cost of the import, partly the American perception of French anything as a luxury item.)

I prefer plain, so don't care about it looking nice. just how it feels. cannot stand underwire
Hyatt
