What's your favorite video game that you would never encourage someone to play? Question inspired by me talking about Metal Gear Solid 4 for ten minutes with a friend and ending the conversation with "this is not to be taken as a recommendation."

Dragon Rage.

It's objectively bad in just about every way. The graphics were bad for it's time and didn't age well at all, the controls are not intuitive, the plot is bad and the characters are worse

But...

You get to be a dragon. You get to destroy an entire empire as a dragon

You power up your breath weapons by collecting cow souls

This is not hyperbole. They have a tutorial and explicitly say this to you. Someone had to voice act for this.

I got so much joy from this game as a teen and as a grown adult woman and I'd play it again. I don't give a fuck. It's embarrassing that I'm good at this game.

I would never ask someone to play it because they don't have the unreasonable childish joy I had to stubbornly force my way into learning the controls

...This isn't even the only bad game I like. It's just the worst

deadly premonition 1 LMAO it's a janky mess but if you can suffer it it's an Experience, jank included. the pc port i 100%d and it needs a third party patch to actually work, and even then crashed constantly. worth it.

creature : Deadly Premonition is such a weird experience that I'm hesitant to call it a video game rather than an interactive performance piece. You sit and bang some buttons and around you spin a troupe of stoned dancers.
