Heads up! Small asteroid to pass very close on Monda...
Don’t forget to duck tomorrow, about 8am CDT. :-)

It’s only about 25% the size of the Chelyabinsk meteor (2013), so while still in the nuclear warhead range, it would likely not be an extinction event. But a lot depends on angle of impact.

It will miss by about 1.5 Earth diameters. So, close.

Ohhhh, tomorrow. Thanks for the heads-up!

Let’s hope it doesn’t hit any satellites.

Come on!! We need a good meteor strike to break up the covid monotony.

Exactly why we need a planetary defense system.

Άτροπος : The closest approach is well inside a geosynchronous orbit (22,236 miles), and slightly inside the orbits of GPS satellites. So it could theoretically take out a GPS satellite, though that is wildly unlikely.

🇺🇦HighDef🇺🇦 : We really ought to be doing something in that area.

I forgot again!
Άτροπος
johndiii : yes, but this is 2021… (LOL)
Άτροπος
🇺🇦HighDef🇺🇦 : we need to clean the garbage out of near Earth orbit first

Άτροπος : So, an Orbital Sanitation Force... :-)

I have just the crew in mind…
