[covid-19 vaccine] this doesn't surprise me at all. I was waiting to see when our area would get through those willing to get the vaccine vs those who won't

I saw another article saw how 2/3rds of people haven't even signed up for the first shot

shit like this is what makes me side eye university plans to do no social distancing (but masks!!!!) for classes in Fall

and my department pushing or being pushed to do a short in person event August 19th

I can't tell which and it makes me real mad

I know we've been vaccinated quickly in our area because we've been incredibly damn privileged / lucky with the dose amounts, but it's also a red state, and republicans are most likely to be vaccine hesitant

so I'm just waiting for vaccinations to hit a wall here because nothing is going to make people get them in this state

other thing I'm dreading is having to go back to work now that I know some very political and anti-science opinions some people in my department have, and working from home is just.... so much better for my job

for reference, Texas has opened vaccines to any adult that wants to get it as of March 29th
