You will only need to bring your own bells (5k) for the painting! I have built a ramp to Redd's beach so you don't need a ladder to access it, though that will make travel to him faster if you have one

If you dig them up, you get 1,000 bells from them. If you bury bell bags in the gold hole up to 10,000 bell bags, it'll turn into a sapling and give you 3 of those bags when the tree is fully grown
