An obituary in this morning's paper described the deceased as "dying from the China virus." When I called to complain, the paper's representative was mortified and apologetic. Some proofreader may get in trouble today.

Proofreader? Newspapers? That's a dying profession. They rely on softwares to do the corrections. Obituaries are usually written by the family, I doubt they are checked anyway. Still, good of you to have called, so maybe there will be someone who will check for now on.
