A bit of Story Time™: Shin Megami Tensei was actually the first MegaTen game that I ever played. I was intrigued by the premise, and eventually fired it up. Enjoyed the heck out of it too, but I ended up putting it on Indefinite Hiatus™ for some reason. (I just have a sucky time at completing games, really. )
I've always been interested in starting a new save file, and actually completing the game this go round, but never had the enthusiasm to do so. Well, I guess that playing Sonic 3 A.I.R. every day recently finally lit a fire inside of me, because I decided to give my first MegaTen the old college try once again.
This time around though, there's one major difference.
My original run was on the Super Famicom version… which is still fine, don't get me wrong. However, between now and then, someone has managed to take the script of the now defunct iOS port that was officially released here in 2014, and port it over the GBA version (which the iOS version was based on).
It's still in beta, but I figured that hell. The resolution isn't as high, and the music is technically worse because the GBA sound chip is lacking (to put it nicely), but the textures themselves are far better, the music compositions themselves are more fleshed out, and it has several nice quality of life features.
