pansikoser : Well, currently the modern soldier carries around 100lbs of weight into combat. As opposed to the 60lbs of a medieval knight and the 90lbs of an ancient Roman soldier marching with all his gear (though that's cheating a bit cuz they also carry stuff related to building camps)
