Today, they decided to rec me a four hour long video where a guy plays Pokemon Shield while also complaining about everything in Pokemon Shield

TBF hardcore fans were and still are going, "OMG you can't complain about a game unless you play it" so I guess there's his proof--

Like, straight up, within the first minute of actually playing the game he's complaining that you pick preset appearances for your character instead of being given a character creation option
