Quinn’s Plurk reminded me of something that I love about the game

Primarily that the fully human characters are, bar none, the most powerful party members in the game

Connie is more individually useful than Stevonnie and has amazing DPS

But I distinctly remember finding a combo that just absolutely steamrolls the rest of the game

There’s a badge you can get really early by... interacting with a machine near the arcade, I think? Whatever the case, it gives a chance to have that character’s next move be completely free

This is calculated on a per-hit basis and scales with Luck IIRC

The thing is, Connie has a move that costs 6 stars in exchange for massive damage...

...and absolutely nuts hit counts

If you staple the freebie badge to Connie There is an extremely high chance that she’ll trigger its ability with that move

Which you can chain into that move again

I think the highest I ever comboed it was to a chain of 4?

Granted the move costs 6 stars, which is hefty, BUT

Greg easily mitigates the problem.

sounds baller

His damage tune is mediocre, his healing tune is decent, but he has a tune that massively boosts your star recovery while it’s active

Protecting him is tricky but even without Connie you can use him to completely overwhelm your opponent with sheer action economy

It's fantastic how the human party members are, generally speaking, way more complex than the Crystal Gems

Yeah, their kits are a lot more focused and coherent

I typically had Garnet as my fourth since she could tank and stun which was really necessary for a party with Greg in it

Also a bonus of having both Greg and Connie in the team is that generally speaking their combo limits are waaaay more practical than fusions

Fusions are fun in theory but their movepools are limited and they use way too many stars

Greg just gives a super buff to his partner (he and Steven overheal and he and Amethyst damage and stun the whole enemy group iirc?) and Connie and her partner go absolutely ape for what’s legit a REALLY hype combo move

Although my fave combo (not really the most practical) is the one where Steven and Peri just play video games with each other

Peri seems like a character who is super broken if you know how to use her exactly right but I never figured her out
