So, some context: while I was doing some research years ago into the Mexica (or Aztec, if you didn't know) for a LARP character, I found out a lot about this weapon.

It's effectively a weapon made not for killing, but for capture. But it could easily be used as such if need be. There were even reports of it pretty effortlessly beheading a damn horse during the Conquistadores fights with the Triple Alliance.

The only thing worth noting on the video, afaik, is that the demonstration at the end of the video has the makers swining the macahuatl around like any other sword

The thing is? Everything I've seen in regards to the weapon is that it's a "hit and pull" kind of weapon. As in you swing high to inbed the weapon near the hilt, and pull down like a saw
