Do not then send a letter saying the request has been cancelled because the drug, which you mention again by name, already has an authorization on file

This fuckery very nearly caused an interruption in treatment for this patient

Literally the only reason it didnt was because someone who took the case out of my name and called on it while I was still calling on it got someone competent who gave them the actual info

And I can guarantee that we're going to have the doctor contacting us tomorrow asking what's going on, the letter said the drug was covered, why are we telling them it isn't.
