I just think it's super ironic when people bash mentors for being "toxic" while in the same sentence say "mentor crowns are the easy way to spot the worst player in the group"
This game has a reputation for being one of the nicer and friendlier ones and it is, but I notice that a lot of people also just hide their toxicity by sequestering off another group of players as the problem outliers
it's just also at the same time it's like UGH this cool stuff requires you to use like 20 furnishing items and item space is already constrained as it is
like there's a reason why the places with all the cool tricks have to partition off a third+ of the living space, because they have to spend so much of their item space doing the cool stuff
so it's like while i'm super impressed with the technical aspects of say, the famous Ascian Ward, at the same time they feel more like showrooms rather than homes
I gave up on the game TWICE due to toxic people, but this last go at it has really shown that those first two times i was just MASSIVELY unlucky because the VAST majority of people have been so good spirited.
and again there's the hidden stuff people don't necessarily mention in game about how they think mentors/rpers/limsa afkers/crystal datacenter players suck
Yeah there's some real bastards out there. And friction between players of different skill levels. Otherwise you too can enjoy moments like having an AST high off their ass typing mostly coherent jokes and doing more DPS than anyone else
i'm sure people think Strong Boi and Moist Pinkness Tickles are bad players because they spend most of their time doing afk emotes in specific spots in major cities but Strong Boi is a savage raider with best in slot gear and Moist Tickles is actually a very good casual WHM
people as whole seem better able to just enjoy the game rather than trying to be Optimal All The Time Forever, We Don't Pull That Trash Loser about things, at least down in the levels im still at, lol. I assume things DO get more serious closer to current content.
Yeah that's true. I've met a really nice crew of Savage players with an Ultimate lead so even then, high content players are more than happy to roll with the sprouts
i also find that a lot of people don't mind clearing extra rooms because it means more exp the people who do mind are people looking to speedrun the dungeon but it adds like an extra 2 minutes onto a run tops usually
the only time you should really worry about being hella optimal is for current high end content (basically the most recent EX/Savage) anything else your bar should mostly be just "please push a button"
like, i should PROBABLY be doing something else when im casting a heal they dont need and then just moving to cancel it if they havent been hit before its about to go off, lol.
my favorite thing about Ridorana Lighthouse alliance raid is that a lot of people seem to have difficulty understanding that you can move when Belias does his dashy attack
anyway i got 3 commendations on smn either because people were impressed with how much damage i was doing or they were impressed by the absolute zero amount of fucks i give during every fight or maybe it was both
there's a lot less risk involve with dancer because i have the freedom to move while attacking and because dnc doesn't have a real "rotation" I have freedom to use different skills if the situation calls for it the only risk would be losing the combo buffs but you know you get 20 whole seconds to use those skills
