This is an INTEREST CHECK for dataBURST, a new panfandom jamjar game set inside a computer program and modeled on a futuristic neon city called Svelte.
A few areas are still being fleshed out, but check out our GAME PREMISE post!
Svelte is a city in constant physical flux. Events happen in the form of "code updates", resulting in everything from Escher-like architectural shifts to manifesting or changing abilities to memory shenanigans. The exact nature of the characters' presence in the program is an ongoing mystery, as are the intentions of the programmers introducing each update.
This will be a CAPPED GAME limited to 60 characters with a max of 2 characters per player. Additionally there is a cast cap of 10%, or 6 characters, per franchise. The game accepts canon characters, OCs, CRAUs (with a caveat they can't have been full AU), and fandom OCs on a base-by-case basis (no long-lost siblings, etc).
Here's some dates for you! The first TDM goes live on 11/15. Pre-game reserves open on 12/01 and pre-game apps on 12/07
A "soft launch" is planned for 12/15. Don't worry, nothing terribly exciting will be happening since holidays, etc! It's more of an open mingle period so people can experiment with the setting.
Your feedback is welcome, and replurks are much appreciated! I'm here for answering quick questions, but if they're detailed, please direct them to the FAQ page.
i realize this game is not at all based on that but it does get me stoked because the setting is inherently rife with potential for fun events. it's a very cool idea, mods!
I didn't actually have that in mind when I was putting this together but now I'm thinking a Reboot-ish event is gonna have to happen. gotta give love to the OG digital jamjar!!
didn't see it mentioned in the FAQ, but once you hit the 60 player cap, will you use a queue system for future apps, or will you wait for numbers to drop and then open a TDM+new app round?

: that's a good question! I've never run a capped game before, so this is something I will probably put up a poll for later this month to see which option players prefer. I can see merits to both and I don't think there'd be that much workload difference on the back end? So I'd rather go with what works for the majority here.
You're welcome! I also see some good questions have come in on the FAQ while I was snoozing so I'm getting to those next 👍 Thanks again everyone for the interest! The response so far is blowing me away!

: Those would not be appable, sorry! It would unfairly complicate the play of the canon character by having to accommodate a non-canon relation. The fandom OC rule is mostly for allowing people to bring in a character from an existing world/series but are unrelated.
