[movie anti-rec??][cw sexual assault] knock knock on netflix is like the worst thing i have seen in a while and i wish i could get a refund on the time i spent watching it. just wanted to plurk a warning on it in case anyone's thinkin about it
basically two girls show up when keanu reeves's character's wife goes out of town with the kids and get him to sleep with them, there's some heavy dubcon that borders on straight up rape. then the entire movie is them tormenting and raping him and threatening to kill him, then his wife and kids come home and see it, the end
there was no ... anything else going on, at all, so far as i can tell. no lesson, no deeper meaning, no oh it's because he was actually a terrible person and they were punishing him, it was just straight up what it presents itself as from the first 20 minutes
god i think the most offensive part to me is when he's asking them why, they're like "you didn't tell us no and so you're a monster", when HE TOLD THEM NO SO MANY TIMES ... he physically tried to push them out of his house. it was extremely extremely not consensual, and i really hate what that is telling me about consent
ive just rambled this to glass but the other implication here is that 1) either the narrative wanted me to think that because he somehow failed to say no 100 times instead of 99 times he really is a monster and deserves it, or, 2) if a man is getting laid it's always a positive thing! he got something out of it, look!
not a super satisfying ending but it at least doesn't leave me wondering if the narrative meant to suggest maybe the ladies were justified somehow, by not punishing them at all
that's how i felt about watching nicolas cage's vampire movie because it was sold to me as just a comedy, but damn at least that movie had some redeeming qualities
