ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
[Health] So I...should be okay I guess...? I sure would love a "you will be okay" but
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
doctor looked at the results and while she said she had no idea what they meant by "infiltrated", it seems to be the same as last time. it's too small for anyone to think of doing a biopsy or anything. that's as much as she was able to give me.
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
of course I'm not really satisfied with "you should be okay" so she's referring me to an endocrinologist?
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
(me: what kind of doctor is that?
her: an endocrinologist
me: )
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
there's one basically two blocks away so I'm gonna call tomorrow and see if they do take my insurance and if they can see me soon
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
so I mean I guess I'm alright with being told it's probably okay but I'm not as relieved as I want to be
E.S. Levi
Endocrinologist is a gland/hormone doctor.
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
Yeah, looked it up after
E.S. Levi
I can parse basic medical-ese, if you want some layman's translations.
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
things I'm also annoyed about: my doctor keeps talking over me, interrupting me, and seemed like she was trying to hang up while I was desperately asking if I needed a damn referral or not. she wasnt this bad in person
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
Uhhh okay one sec
E.S. Levi
Eesh, talk about unprofessional.
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
so this was a neck ultrasound
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
and one of the things under impression is
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
"Serial 0.5 cm likely infiltrated lymph node midline level 7, unchanged since 1/20/2020."
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
1/20 being the last time I got this looked at
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
so I mean midline level 7 okay that's a location idc and serial I'm guessing just means that again it's the same as before
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
under findings
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
"0.4 x 0.2 x 0.5 cm hypoechoic lymph node at midline level 7, no fatty hilum, unchanged."
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
assuming no fatty hilum=good
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
maybe?
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
idfk
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
or bad idk google is confusing me. but. the other lymph nodes seem fine
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
yeah hm a bad thing but
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
idfk I'm gonna stop looking this shit up
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
i'll talk to the endo and I guess just get this checked out every so often
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
feels like everything I look at today is like "well these are things seen in the big C"
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
already had one scare this month
E.S. Levi
Fatty hilum is normal, but described as 'frequently' present, so I don't think the lack of one is significant on its own.
E.S. Levi
.5cm seems to be normal size...what I'm getting from this is that the lymph node is not enlarged, but they suspect there's something in it that doesn't belong there. While yes, that can mean cancer cells, it can also just mean fat.
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
Mm
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
I mean. ig it's nothing to worry about rn since it hasnt changed at all in nine months.
E.S. Levi
Yeah. If it was malignant, you'd definitely be seeing a change in that time.
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
Yeah, definitely. So I'll just go get it checked out again once or twice a year ig just to make sure it stays the same way
ᴡᴀᴋᴇ.
I'll see what the endo says, too
E.S. Levi
Yeah, the main worry would be if whatever's bothering it makes it not do its job properly.
