Let's ignore the actual conversation being had here. This panel structure. NEVER DO THIS.

Specifically the first three panels

those first three panels

YOu can do this panel structure in manga because your read right to left so the order is umabiguous

but if you want to do it in a western context you HAVE to put the vertical panel first

otherwise the order is totally ambiguous

wait what whoa

also is it supposed to seem like she's angrily circling around him at high speed

because that's the feeling I get from their flipping the camera angle like that in the vertical (third? second??) panel but not the rest

Their positions are consistent but yeah they’re breaking the line of action

but on second glance it seems like she's standing in one place for the whole thing, not pacing around him, and they just reversed the shot there for some reason

"this is a talking heads page but we don't want it to be boring, however we lack the imagination to do anything with each frame other than put two talking heads facing each other in it, so uhhhh let's change the camera angle a little every time (and hugely just once)" ???

"that will be more interesting than redrawing the talking heads the exact same way six times!"

actually it's just kinda samey and mildly disorienting, without being especially interesting to look at or telling us much about the characters and their emotions the way a more creative layout could

While we're doing criticism, I'm also not a fan of what the colorist has done with Barbara's hair

ah, the colored lines instead of black?

they seem to favor that for mouths and noses, too

inconsistently on Batman though, huh. : /

Yeah it's not the only place in the page where they've done it, but on her hair it makes it look like it's been overlaid from something totally different

yeah, it's a bit floaty in effect

it's such a big area rather than a small accent

it'd blend better with the rest of the page if at least the outside edge was in black

And it has more surface area with which it's contrasting with parts of the art not colored in this manner

Oh god I just noticed that Barbara's eyes are inked in black unlike all the rest of her facial features and now it's all I can see

honestly I'm over here with my low, low bar for women in comics, going "at least her physique and body language are that of a healthy human woman who is conversing with and focused on the other person in the scene"

Oh yeah, the pencils are pretty good, paneling/blocking aside

"rather than a weirdly squeezed mannequin who is inexplicably posing provocatively for a non-existent ogler somewhere off to her left regardless of what she's actually supposedly doing"

(honestly if I had a nickel for every sexy comics lady who's supposedly seducing some guy standing to her right, yet who is thrusting all her assets leftward towards the camera in a way that would deny her target anything like a view...)
