Contrary to popular understanding, Stoker has his Dracula sporting a large, bushy Victorian mustache and having a profuse head of dense, curly hair, massive eyebrows, and peculiarly sharp white teeth, especially the canine teeth. Dacre Sucre believed it was possible that Bram’s portrayal of Dracula a charming devil was inspired by Irving’s portrayal of Mephistopheles in Faust. But little is said about Dracula’s attire. Dacre（應指Dacre Stoker，Bram Stoker是他曾叔父）相信有可能《德古拉》原作者伯蘭‧史杜克賦予了德古拉一個迷人惡魔的概念，其靈感來自於歐文爵士所扮演的梅菲斯特形象。（備註：歐文爵士有個官網叫做Irving Society，可以從這裡了解所有關於當年擔任演員的歐文爵士及維多利亞劇院所有作品，此社團至今仍存。）
直到1924年愛爾蘭演員兼編劇漢密爾頓·戴恩（Hamilton Deane）將此小說改編成舞台劇，德古拉在倫敦的舞台上首演。 這部作品將雷蒙德·亨特利（Raymond Huntley）（據稱他提供自己的服裝）所描繪的外型：「穿著精緻燕尾服的德古拉伯爵」便因此亮相給了全世界。
