i found out this afternoon that one of my neighbors died a couple days ago; he wasn't somebody i knew super well but he was a good guy

he had an elderly cat

literally no one in the family wants him; they were leaning towards euthanasia

i've pet-sit for him; he's in his late teens, but he's friendly, alert, no major health issues (though i'm going to get vet records to confirm this), great appetite

as soon as i found out i was like NO WAIT

i'm not super set up for a cat, but i'm likely taking him to my sister's tomorrow because their cat (taken in after a very similar situation, actually!) died a couple months ago

if he + their exuberant puppy aren't a complete disaster he'll stay with them, and if they are i'll take him, he's such a sweet boy and he deserves to live

he's very quiet and spends a lot of time snoozing in his bed but he would always get up and follow me around the house when i went over there

my roommate is already at "a cat followed me home but I swear I'm not keeping him because finances + small apartment + big dumb dog" so we can't take him. she's trying to rehome her temporary cat.
