Want a cool fandom mask? Want to help out an unemployed artist who needs rent money very badly? Luckily, you can do both! Feel free to replurk and share!
2. Custom masks!! I have listings for some neat prints (galaxy, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Frozen), Ahsoka, Sabine, and Hogwarts houses, and a couple more Star Wars / Marvel under the "custom mask" listing but if you want something that isn't listed just let me know!
3. I have some ready to ship pleated masks in cute prints that are suitable for like, your mom, or maybe even going to work if your work is the kind of place where a cool fandom mask might be weird.
4. As much as I am not on board with kids going back to school in person, it is a thing that's happening, and they're going to need masks they want to wear. Which is to say- I definitely do kids' masks too.
6. If you do not want to buy through Etsy, I understand. It does help me in the algorithm if you click the links or favorite the items, but PP (or comment if we aren't mutuals) for more info on private purchases.
One last thing: custom masks aren't limited to the prints. I had a customer ask me for "something Mass Effect" - since I don't really play video games I didn't really even think to do something in that vein, but this is what I wound up with:
I haven't received my masks yet but I can vouch that you're awesome to work with during the custom creation process lots of in progress shots and consulting and giving ideas and such and I am so excited for them
So now I have a question about the custom ones - I've seen some masks on redbubble that look like the bottom half of a halo helmet, but it's just printed on. Would you be able to replicate or suggest something like that on a mask?
texelations: I will be putting some of my tarot designs up on my teepublic shop though and they have masks as their items but I can't vouch for the quality since those are one of their newer items
texelations: Absolutely! I could paint it or do something similar to the Mass Effect one I posted above, with layered fabrics and stitching, which would probably hold up better especially with washing.
I've bought Teepublic masks and I can't recommend them - whatever the top layer of fabric that they print on is, it's hard to breathe through, and it gaps at the top

: Yeah, I think I can do that! I'd do the lower half of it and include the nose and maybe bottoms of the eye sockets so it's more recognizable. As for time it depends on how many orders I have. Right now I'm not that backed up so anything ordered today can likely be shipped within a week.
okay! Thanks for understanding - I too am very :/ about all these shenanigans but so far everything I've sent has gotten where it needs to go in a reasonable amount of time
𝕊𝕡𝕒𝕔𝕖 𝔸𝕔𝕖
: there is! And there aren't many, because I got that fabric in the Before Times, figuring I would find something to do with it, and I'm fairly sure the print is discontinued (or at least hard to find)
dirtypaws: I've got em! And I am more than happy to do any type of customization- the linings aren't sewn into the fronts until they're ordered, so if you wanted the reverse to be something other than red, or wanted the logo as a patch instead of all over, or whatever! I also have plenty of gold/red/blue fabric paint left over from my armor.
ALSO. For the Supernatural fans: I can make maybe 2 or 3 with the protection sigil pattern. I don't have enough left to do full masks with it but I can do stripes of it.
Hello! I'm interested in a custom mask (or 2 >.> ). How intricate can you make the logos/images/extras on these masks with fabric paints? I'd figure small and simple designs are easiest but I'm just curious how complex you're able to do?
rlly good brain
: I can go relatively complex with the paint; my only concern would honestly be how well it holds up. I'm doing some skeleton faces and I've done some lettering; what are you thinking?
One of my ideas was a half yellow, half black (or purple if there's no black/dark fabric) with a simple bumblebee design painted on the yellow side? And the other is a pink mask with a Mew graphic painted on one side. Something in the vein of this face graphic: or a silhouette like this:
Omigosh that last image of the yellow fabric with the red, white, and black flowers is absolutely perfect. And yes! The Hufflepuff mask is very similar to what I'd love to have. So far as the pinks go, I like that first fabric with the scattering of silver stars? ^^
rlly good brain
: Awesome! I have a lot of both of those. Under Custom mask in my shop choose 2 Moderates, make a note in the personalization section, and they'll be added to the queue. Thank you!
ramyakitty: Oh that's you! Okay! Yeah, I am too! I really love the character inspired ones; it's always such a fun challenge to try to evoke the character with the items I have on hand. I know a handful of Anna cosplayers who might be interested in that design too, now that i think about it, if you don't mind me maybe making a few more?
texelations: First of all thank you SO MUCH for your patience - I have been super busy! Your order will be shipped tomorrow, after a little more attention to the detailing and some paint here and there. I hope it's close to what you're looking for! (bearing in mind my wig head has wonky proportions)
If anyone who has ordered from me has any questions please feel free to leave them here or message me on Etsy! Consider this also a bump as more orders would still help me a lot, especially for any pre-made or simple masks. In addition I've got a handful of adult size HP, Ahsoka, and Captain Marvel with quick lead times.
(my favorite dinosaurs actually are pterosaurs with weird crests on their heads, though triceratops is good too! it's my display name for name reasons rather than favorite dinosaur reasons)
I'm not picky about mask style, fitted or pleated is fine (fitted might make sense to show off the dinosaur print), but I'd appreciate a small opening somewhere around the edges to add/remove a wire. I've been using a pipe cleaner folded in half to avoid glasses fog.
So as a fellow glasses wearer I have modified the cut a bit so the curves on the top are a little lower while still being fitted - this eliminates the fogging problem for me, and I've had others tell me the same, but I understand entirely that ymmv so I can see what I can do about the opening.
I really wanted to do the channel for the wire on your friend's mask but I found it easier to just sew it in. Do you have a picture of one that has that on it, so I can see how it's done?
a smidge of accidental overlap won't really bother me, but fully folded over edges enough to see that color and print are both very different would, if that makes sense?
you could also add a wire if that's easier. I think I was just worried about rust stains because I'm paranoid. the non-reversible masks I made have tiny fabric tubes on the inside of the mask, and one of my masks has an opening all the way across for liner and wire - a channel honestly isn't necessary, my nose holds the wire in place at the top of the mask
any opening wide enough to easily fish a pipe cleaner through along the seam of any side of the mask would be sufficient. the channel-less mask I use is here:
If it's too much trouble, let me know. I can always modify after the fact if I need to - I'm about to open up an inch of the bottom seam of the masks my cousin made anyway so I can get a wire into those.
yeah! I clearly didn't explain it well enough the first time. Like, having a 1-inch opening in the bottom seam would be enough to let me add a wire if it turns out they do still fog up my glasses
dinosaur and flower mask. I'm super excited that dinosaurs are being marketed for little girls these days. I bought dino pajamas for my friend's daughter awhile back.
I'm still staying at my parents' house and there's a wooden pteranodon skeleton above the guest room bed and I'm considering taking it with me when I move back home. Dinosaurs are very good
My masks just arrived today and I'm absolutely over the moon about them, they're so great!! I just had a quick question: Is it okay to gently hand-wash these after uses? The paint jobs you did on both of them are exquisite and I want to make sure I take excellent care of them. ^.^
rlly good brain
: Yes! It's best to hand wash them in cold water and hang dry. If you can, iron them for about 30 seconds before washing - you'll only need to do that before the first wash, after that cold water and gentle soap should be fine! I'm so glad you like them!
BLITZØ
: You can, but on the painted ones you'll want to put them inside a delicates bag or another garment. They're meant to be washed "inside out" but that's not really a thing for masks. Hanging dry is always best; you want to keep the elastic away from high heat.
If you wouldn't mind leaving a review or just a rating on Etsy, I would really appreciate it! It helps boost me in the search. Thanks so much again for buying and I am so glad that you all like them!!
One last question because I haven't ironed anything in like...years. XD;;; Is there a specific heat setting/temp that you recommend for the pre-wash ironing?
rlly good brain
: If your iron has settings according to fabric type, set it to cotton. Otherwise medium-high. A hair dryer might work too, you just want to keep it away from the elastic so the ties don't melt!
I haven't tried it out yet because it arrived right after I got home from dealing with an errand backlog, but I especially like the way you did the elastic at the sides, so it's beautifully reversible but the elastic is still easily replaceable. That's very clever.
Bump for end of month and also in case anyone is still interested in a cool fandom mask! I have a lot more new designs (including Star Trek masks) and I am really wanting to do some Marvel themed ones so bring me your Avengers and X-Men requests
Unfortunately I cannot guarantee Halloween delivery at this point but now would be an excellent time to avoid the holiday crunch that I am both hoping for and dreading at the same time
BuyMoreCrystals
: Sorry about the delay! This is what I have that's Christmasy; I have solid and subtle print red, green, gold, white, etc that I can easily pair with these
[ETA 9/17/2020] I have a Ko-Fi now if anyone is able or willing to help that way - I appreciate it a lot!
