hey fam a friend is wanting to try out gunbreaker but wants to start as a low level tank to dip their toes into blue dps. Are any of the other tanks close to gunbreaker, play style-wise?
I mean. I've been a paladerp since Heavensward and I did cap warrior and gunbreaker but I'll admit I didn't know what i was doing with war and gunblade
o7 thank you all! fair enough I wanted to start with gnb but then instantly realized "oh there is so much stuff on my hotbars already and I have no idea what I need to memorize about dungeon bosses past the first few so I fear touching levelling roulette, rip"
As someone who played paladin for four years I got gunbreaker unlocked and immediately left it alone because it was Too Much for my brain out of nowhere
I was pretty sure it was a totally different creature from the other tanks but as I'd only played one tank seriously I wasn't sure if it was Just Me so I figured I'd ask
similar problem for me but without the tanking experience, laughs I understand the basic DPS part of the rotation fine (me, seeing that step two heals you a lil: ooh shiny) but oh god that's so many cooldowns when do I use them. what
I was beginning to struggle in 60+ dungeons on specific bosses and the only way to get better is practicing, but I don't want to put random DF players through me failhealing especially when I have no sprout as an excuse the Scions won't care if I failheal ;__;
I hear it's more similar to MCH than any of the other tanks, unfortunately MCH would only teach them to hit a lot of buttons in the right order and not teach them how to mitigate. I'd say level up any other tank to practice mitigation in live content as they can't practice that on a dummy, otherwise hit a dummy a lot on GNB to get familiar with the rotation
^ as someone who mains GNB I can provide tips in terms of what to hit first/what to keep up, but it’s still a lot of the same idea of all the other tanks- except it also has a dps rotation, which was debunked for all other tanks in ShB
ye I was just going to mention that, I think DRK can be both good and bad in terms of learning tank for new players, while TBN (The Mega Bigass Mitigation) can teach "bad" tanking bc it covers you so hard that you barely have to map other CDs, if you're new to say savage and -
LOL I'm the same, I started tanking in Eden's Gate on DRK and when I had to switch to PLD for a bit my brain just broke. on the other hand when I was progging LL for the first time on tank DRK was a godsend, was my first time having to position bosses within tighter timings because what is boss positioning in Gate lol

I'm so glad I got AST to 71
especially when I have no sprout as an excuse

but it's appreciated!
