[Vidya] Not my cup of tea but positive queerbearstare will be glad to know the people behind Suikoden are doing a Kickstarter in the now-known path of "Studio won't let us so fuck it New IP, Familiar Gameplay".

And so long as they don't go full Mighty No. 9, they should do alright.

Oh, and Shenmue. But I think most the hell involved there was finances & backer trechery—I didn't keep a close eye because I never played nor was interested in Shenmue.

And now that I've blasphemed twice over sacred franchises imma go lunch
queerbearstare
I have mixed feelings on it! But I do plan to back it. And I'm actually really touched by how many friends have poked me about it since the vague tweet, y'all cuties
Paldeahaveadime
Figured you'd wanna know |3
queerbearstare
I hope they get to live their dreams man
queerbearstare
and bloodstained is proof that this kind of thing can go really well
Paldeahaveadime
Shantae, Bloodstained, Shovel Knight—there are actually a lot of good examples of crowdsourcing in the right hands working out
Paldeahaveadime
Especially Bloodstained oh christ inject that directly into my veins

The hesitation point is if project directors and management resources align properly. And if the people at KS aren't kicking up a fuss over identity & political stances
Paldeahaveadime
Which...they often are. Hence why they're currently bleeding money. :x
queerbearstare
oh I meant bloodstained was a successful example of a former konami creator giving them the finger with one hand and filing the serial numbers off with the other while And I Did It My Way plays in the background
queerbearstare
a very specific set of circumstances

I honestly don't have any doubts that this game will get funded. Suikoden fandom is a lot like Castlevania fandom: smaller than a lot of other fandoms these days but loyal af to the creators of the games they enjoyed so much
Paldeahaveadime
... That mental image is going to stick with me all week thanks
Paldeahaveadime
It was a Konami property, wasn't it?
Paldeahaveadime
Now if Media Vision would follow suit, give Sony the one-two, and crowd fund a spiritual followup on Wild ARMs I can give up on past works entirely
