Here we are at the final day and I realized I talked about the Megaman games a lot more than I thought I would. Namely the Zero games and a little into ZX
This game was intended to be the last X game and lead into Zero, but then Capcom got greedy and started working on X6. The two came out within a year from each other, I believe and boy does it show
X5 we get Sigma's return right at the front and it's about doing all you can to prevent a space colony from crashing into the earth. Also the Sigma virus is coming into play here a kit, corrupting reploids and making them mavericks. Interestingly, the virus only seems to strengthen Zero
Sigma critically wounds X and Zero, but Zero, near death, delivers the finishing blow. He spends his last few moments reminiscing, thinking about Iris, thinking about the man who created him. His memory chip is damaged and he goes back to another time when he fought Sigma
The credits music that comes after all of this is, appropriately, a rather sad melody. As the original intended ending to the series, one might say it even feels like a farewell
And in a way it is. The Zero series is meant to come after this, anyway, with X defending the world by himself for nearly a century, apparently passing away and entrusting the world to his comrade while he rests
