Origami UnConvention day 2: The one with actual origami models all day.

Note: These are my papers, and are mostly just grabbed at random for a test fold. The first time through isn't always as successful as the one after.

Yay!

First session is An Orchid for Susie by Michael LaFosse in about five minutes, and photos won't happen for at least an hour after that.

Excellent! I can't wait to see it. :-)

He offered an origami rule of thumb for dry folding paper: use the side of your thumbnail to sharpen creases.

And I just found who originally taught one of the tricks I use for teaching a frog base. Gay Merrill Gross.

GW Wolf
pretty!
Spookitty
I certainly like this one, although I really should find proper colors for the next one.

Next up is a relatively simple elephant designed for a conservation project to display a Guinness World Record number of origami elephants in a single location.

Next up is Robert J Lang teaching his Box Dogwood, named for being a collaboration with metal sculptor Kevin Box, for a upcoming show in Atlanta in 2022.
Spookitty
I have to give both men a shout out as inspiration to cast origami in metal.

And I have a bit of a meal break so if anyone has questions about me any my folding I can try to answer.
Spookitty
I'm an equal opportunity folder who enjoys both representative and geometric folding, but I tend to focus a lot on how satisfying the results are based on the effort put in. One of my absolute favorite pieces to show people takes five folds.
Spookitty
Also, I picked up cosmos print kami in the gold mine sale, so there's going to be some lovely space hamsters when that package makes it here.
Spookitty
Origami has been my go to craft since I was about ten, but it's hard to pin down. My first folding experience was around age three.

Up next is a fidget spinner pig by Jeremy Shafer, followed by the piece I really went to this whole crazy online thing for, Beth Johnson's Koala.
Spookitty
Or maybe there's technical issues with getting the scheduled presenter online.
Spookitty
Guess what? The pig is folded from the rarely used Pig Base.
Spookitty
Rarely used because it fell out of favor in the seventies or so when better design concepts became more common.

And now it's koala time!

https://images.plurk.com/Ay6QIsQ4yDYrUjTz8CS9W.jpg Still working on little tweaks to make it look right.

And I think I am going to just take a nap instead of waiting for the last two. I'll add them when the recordings get distributed.
