That resignation letter was brutal.

"Rat deserting the sinking ship" is exactly how I called him on a blog (not mine, in a comment.) He could have left a while ago, it's not new that this guy has been abusing the constitution. But now? Now that the president has crossed a hard line, now he leaves. Cause he doesn't want to sink along.

Oh, wait. Not even the right rat. It's Miller. Esper hasn't quit yet. He is merely getting cold feet.

Sorry yeah. I meant the resignation letter his assistant gave him.

I'm sure Trump will fire Esper before he has a chance to resign and attempt to save face.

Hmm. Rats carry fleas, which carry plague. And the White House is chock full of vermin these days.

I would really like to see more career military folks standing up and calling out this shit. That letter was very clearly aimed at one individual, but was also clearly intended to make others think hard about what their service actually meant. And about those they served with.

At least some former military are speaking out. Mattis yesterday, and John Allen today. Both former Marine Generals.

I have really wondered since the election if the military would support Ol’ Bonespurs if he ordered clearly unconstitutional action against American citizens.

All that said, the WH needs to install rat-sized revolving doors.

I am again reminded of how a friend wittily turned that phrase on its head as "ships deserting the sinking rat." Both versions apply here, I think.
