雖然 BBC中文近來槽點愈來愈多，但若對於美國不再認可香港具有高度自治對於香港關稅特區的實質影響不太有概念，這篇還是可以讀一下：

香港失掉獨立關稅區地位的可能性

在「一國兩制」下，廣義上來說，香港只有外交及國防事務由中國直接管理，香港可以中國香港的名義參與國際組織，在經貿層面，香港可以自行與其他國家商討雙邊合作，所以順理成章，香港也是世界貿易組織一個非主權國成員，國際社會普遍承認香港在經濟上的獨立地位，法律、稅務事宜等，也與中國大陸有所分別。

不過值得一提的是，世貿規定成員需要在對外貿易關係和參與WTO事務上享有「完全的自治權」，不得受到所屬國家的干涉才能夠保持成員身份，意味著一旦中國政府在經貿層面施以「干預」，世貿有權取消香港的成員身份。
