[FF14] Does anyone know of any dummy's guide to class rotations and hotbar set ups? WoW has Icy Veins, and I'm hoping FF14 has a similar resource I just... haven't found yet

not so much on hot bar set up but for rotations (mostly end game), the Balance discord is basically the place to be. i can grab a link later but note it can be pretty overwhelming

hmm yeah, I think the discord would be too overwhelming. I'm not at end game with any of my classes yet either, I've been taking it slow. Currently near the start of Heavensward and playing Red Mage, level 61, my other highest leveled class is Monk at 51 and I want to level my Arcanist which is 11 haha

Monk is the one I want some hotbar/rotation figuring out since I got overwhelmed with it throwing a bunch of things at me for comboing around level 50-ish

I've been slow on progressing, but I hopped in recently to grind out some of those tomes of laws and got all the 50 tome mounts, so might try to get some more story done

np np. monk's basic rotation is fortunately fairly easy to work out now that you are 50!

If you think your core monk skills as two sets of combos, it becomes much easier to understand. you have your first set: Dragon Kick > Twin Snakes > er. the DoT i don't remember the name of, it has a black and red icon

This set gives you buffs/ enemies a debuff

the next set is: Bootshine > True strike > ... i can't believe i forgot the name of this, but it's the attack with the white/ yellow icon

and this is your bigger damage set.

and you just alternate between these two sets of combos.

yeah I was thinking of my combos as like... AoE and single target combos, but it's been a while since I swapped back to pugilist

getting to level 50 on my pugilist was around the time I was finishing up ARR so my eyes were kind of glazing over in general LOL

yep there's a third set for AoE: arm of the destroyer > Four point fury > rock breaker

(confusingly they give you rock breaker before 4 point fury which makes it very confusing)

you would have gotten fists of various elements, you can think of them as stances. you basically want to always be in Fists of Fire for your level. so you just turn it on and then forget about it

shoulder tackle, which is a gap closer that you can use also for damage, perfect balance (iirc you use this to start a fight if you don't have any stacks of greased lightning; it lets you execute any attack regardless of form for a short duration, so you use it to build greased lightning stacks fast)
