Ok, I'll say it.

I think it's great that people are excited about a new Pike show. But there's a part of me that can't help but weigh this against the TORRENT of hate I see every day towards Discovery and Michael and shake my head at humans.

*yes you can be excited about the new show without being a racist I'm just talking about the big picture

I will watch it and I think it'll be great

just.... annoyed that there's this part of me that feels Pike was a bone thrown to the people who thought there weren't enough white people

and I will admit part of that perception is based on the number of posts on various Trek communities that bash everything about disco EXCEPT Pike

ugh and I hesitate to even bring it up so maybe I'm reading too much into it only... IDK

I will say it again, I think it's great! it'll be fun! this isn't me being anti-Pike show!

I....enjoyed Pike more than anything else last season. And I really thought the first season was pretty strong? I like what Sonequa Martin-Green is doing with what she's been given fine, I just did not like swaths of last season. :-/

it just FEELS like a concession given what we're still seeing re: Michael and the rest IDK

That said I'm not sure we really need a Pike show.

I actually haven't enjoyed anything about Disco except the casting BUT that's another matter

maybe it's a coincidence that the three leafs are all white

And I'm deffo not saying "if Pike's your guy you're a bigot" I'm saying this is a systemic thing. Pike's probably your guy because they brought a hot white dude in to be the voice of everything we've gone to love from Star Trek.

so the problem isn't that people like Pike. The problem for me is that the PTB are giving in to pressure to whiten the franchise,I guess.

I'm just saying it was suspicious to me that Pike walked in saying all the right stuff about the federation I've personally been missing

I fucking looooove Discovery. I know people are down on it for being too dark but I haven't seen Michael hate. 😭
