Stuff you do when you Stay At Home. Convert a 50+ year old silverware drawer from a now-departed house into a necklace cabinet. I went a little extra nuts with decoupage. Decorated Altoids tins gave me room to store tiny things, too. And yes, the inner edge seams ARE lined with pearls, thanks for asking. https://images.plurk.com/2bnvCjxyeqBNC85dLIvFX.jpg

That is such an awesome re-purposing!

Thanks! I have more drawers waiting in the basement for whatever they'll become next. But I wanted this first, I keep losing track of my necklaces and forgetting what I have. I wanted them out where I could remember to wear them, and to enjoy them. Most were made by talented friends.

I admit I AM thinking of something like this for the second bathroom. Pic I found somewhere online. https://images.plurk.com/7q3RKPlB8a0VTOqvDFQvh0.jpg

Oooh! Thanks! I want something like that for my bathroom! :-D

I recommend Wallums stickers! They make a lot of them, not just tentacles. (Though CLEARLY tentacles are the best).

Excellent work!
Tehanu
That is so cool! I especially like the lacy border at the top.

Thanks! I crocheted a strip to hot-glue at the top, as the seam between the painted wood and the natural stained wood was really crappy looking.

Wow!

It's so... tidy.

Very clever idea! I really like these. Great tentacles too.
Tehanu
I thought that looked hand-crocheted! May I ask what the pattern is?

Lovely work. My jewelry hoard is befitting a dragon, however, a would require at least one whole wall to be displayed in this fashion. I'm a chronic yard and estate sale junkie.

T. A. Lowery - find an old dresser at a thrift shop and go NUTS with the drawers. Hee.

Tehanu , it's a simple shell stitch. Make a chain as long as you want, turn. Skip a chain, crochet 6 double crochets in the next. Skip a chain, one single crochet in the next. Keep repeating (Basically every other chain you crochet 6 dc or 1 sc, built the shell up and then tuck the end down, over and over)

Oh, also on the crocheted strip? I pulled it VERY TIGHT when I hot glued it, so it would be an even, flat scallop. In fact, I pulled it tight and it got lightly nailed in place till hard-set, then I pulled the nails out.

I have a stash of these drawers, in various sizes and depths, including some that are very deep, enough so that they are almost a square. Those will become (eventually) bolsters with padded lids for sitting, wheels or stubby legs underneath. The lid will be hinged so there's seekret storage inside.

You can see the drawers here, in the old house (the house has been since demolished.) I scavenged all the drawes AND the cupboard doors. https://images.plurk.com/1NzTBQJuAPWOTJAUUbjDyE.jpg

You know, mom's old cupboards are in the house that is going to be demolished... I could do the same... (thinking)

Oh how cool!!! Love it!

Stereo... grab them! And also, look through the house at hinges, knobs, light switch plates, anything and everything. Once it's gone, you can't get it back and if you change your mind later you can discard things. But you have to take action now before you lose your options. (I have enough hinges to last forever now! And I've used some!)

You can paint a cupboard door with blackboard paint and make your own shopping list board to hang on a wall, for example.

Thanks, Maudeline !
