You know you could have just...asked, right? I prefer an antiquated white, but you literally -could- have asked, as my store policies says:
☑ We strive for performance efficiency and quality in our models, textures and scripts within SL limitations. Item suggestions and requests for fixes are very welcome.
I laughed at that post. What a think to complain about. Reminds me of the time someone left a neg review on an item claiming it wasn't white.. He'd bought a black shirt >.> People are gunna dumb. Don't take it to heart <3
I made an official response. I know it's a stretch but, I hope they take my suggestion to contact the store properly so we can do the fix they wanted and learn from it. I just want to encourage good practice.
Take the secret with a grain of salt. If the person had an issue with it they shouldn't have been petty to make the secret and reach out to you about it

: White is an interesting thing. When you texture particularly for SL, it isn't always 100% on materials for everyone, so you have to do shading instead of relying on materials like most games. Now there's a problem with this: it affects the reflective behaviours of white that makes it realistic.
So it's kind of a matter of finding a balance. In this case, I based it on illustrative terms for 'value', so to speak. You have to know there is a limitation in what a picture shows and unfortunately, pure white is the lightest shade possible, aka, that needs to be reserved for the strongest highlights.
In short, full ffffff white needs to be reserved for the top highlights where light is directly hitting it. White is reflective, so you also need to take into consideration that it also lightens the shadows around it, thus...it needs to be a grey to be properly portrayed.
So I spent a lot of time, utilising my 2D illustration knowledge to try and get the values right for SL. For good measure I used CalWL, though, I've noticed it has a warm tone to it. I much prefer to work in midday, since it allows me to spot all the flaws.

: I hope that helps in some ways. I really recommend nabbing those still life shape pictures and try to use an eyedropper tool for observation. It's helped me back when I was doing my degree.

But I won't actually know when to update my older products if no one points it out, you know?
