did some rambling on Twitter about differences in my fic preferences for Gintama vs OP fandom

and how I think a lot of the differences just come down to how the fic-writing fandom at large treats my respective favourite character in both fandoms

or should I say "treated" for One Piece since I don't really have a strong ficreading urge for OP these days...

I do the same depending on my fandom! My appetite changes

It's more that it depends on the canon! for fire emblem, I love political intrigue fics that deal with government and espionage and inter-family politics

for star wars, ground-level war stuff focusing on the Little Guy...

I'll have ships that I favour but my tastes mainly change when it comes to genre c:

I feel a bit embarrassed by how focused I am on my favourite characters...

But it's like, if i feel well-fed enough when it comes to content about my number one fave, then I will also be more into other fanworks in the same fandom.

With One Piece the emotional foundation for the series is the bond between the Strawhats and it felt like the fic-writing side of the fandom really got that

oh no, I am absolutely focused on my favourite characters

If it's about characters I'm not as big a fan of or my faves aren't there I won't read it

I feel relieved
