i disagree with this take just as i dislike the reasoning behind removing shang from mulan and also making rey alone at the end of tros

you can still let a girl fall in love without making her story all about it - it doesn't make her weak or take away from her strength

anyways cinderella wasn't about that - it was a girl who'd been abused all her life and just wanted one night to herself to be free and happy and wear a beautiful gown. she just happens to fall in love. get this "male validation" thing outta here.

we already have the perfect one with brandy

yyyy the Brandy one is the best

but we also have Ever After which was strong as HELL

Ella Enchanted, also strong as hell

and the Disney remake Cinderella which borrowed notes from the others but was strong as hell

and frankly she's strong in the original too dammit
