also personally I'm working with Leia tied her life force to Ben's, Rey locked it in by healing him, and then he gave it back to bring her back to life, which is why he actually went Force-Ghost, on account of Leia did too
and adding this here this morning: I'm not engaging with people who hated it, because I'm not letting other people dent my enjoyment of it like I did with Last Jedi
I'm not saying that it didn't have flaws, and I'm not saying you shouldn't be upset by those, but as I've mentioned before, I'm in this for the shiny pewpew and not the social commentary
and dropping this in here as well: according to the visual dictionary, Poe fell in with the Spicerunners as some sort of teenaged misdeeds (running with a Bad Crowd) and Kes welcomed him home with open arms as long as he put it behind him, which is when he went to the Republic naval academy where Leia picked him up from
so not much about how I play Poe will change either, and going off my usual headcanon that he and Ben were friends, Ben getting sent away probably had affected Poe in a not-so-good way which is what caused all that
(also I don't think Yoda actually called down the lightning, I think he was just being a dramatic little troll and knew the storm was coming/the strike to the one tall lone object in the area was inevitable)
