Yeah, she was holding the bottom of the keyboard and mushing her head under my hand the whole 20-minute sprint. Like, babe, please, I can't write with your head under my hand.
A friend asked for a likely illegal, risky occupation that's just a little odd and somehow my brain went to "liaison for ring of a toad-catchers, and she's in The Know of who in the upper crust is asking for toads for toad drugs" and then it kind of devolved from there..... We spent at least 6 minutes talking about toad drugs until I closed it out.
Fun fact of NaNo19: Fingers are specifically built to feel things. That is half their purpose. So when you accidentally try to slice off the top part of your finger, it will let you know it felt that, and then continue to tell you it feels that at every available opportunity, because that's how fingers work.
Nah, but it was quite annoying to not be able to rinse the blood out from under my nail until it crusted over because the cut wasn't sealed over yet and would just bleed more. Nothing worse than dried blood under your nails.
I'm so annoyed. I totally conned myself with my own shitty encouragement tricks. I have this thing in the chat room I run during NaNo where if somebody is really struggling, I'll challenge them to round up (to the nearest thousand if that's close, or the nearest 500 if the next 1k is too much).
"Just round it up, and then you can call it good. It always feels nice to get to that next round thousand. Just round up." And so tonight I thought, I Cannot do my normal 2k. I just Can't. I'll see if I can get 1k and call that good. You can't always have stellar days.
So I fought to 1k and actually wound up at 1118 and that was nice. I was Ready to quit for the day. But then I added it to my word count on the website and was like, how much is it to the next K? Oh, like, 600 words. That's not bad. I can do that. I'll just round it up to 43K and call it good.
I got to 43K, realized it was only, like, ~250 words or something to the 2k daily goal and thought, "Oh that's not bad. I'LL JUST ROUND UP." AND NOW I HAVE MY 2K FOR THE DAY BUT I'M BITTER ABOUT IT.
Listen, sometimes you just gotta call yourself out for this. I literally brought both these people in (the pirates and Ekkir) and I have NO idea where the pirates went after the battle and at some point Shey told Ekkir to get a place in town and stay low. He's stayed so low I'm not convinced he's in the story!
Cursed comment said to me by my Co-ML: "Sometimes I run my glasses through the dishwasher. You should contact your glasses' manufacturer and ask if they're dishwasher safe."
/updates word count
Sometimes word count is just rambling to yourself to remember things.
