saying "us politics are important to this, remember to vote for politicians who verbally and loudly agree that the hong kong situation is fucked up" is one thing
.... no, voting in elections will not actually help Hong Kong right now, and public displeasure and pressure is about the only thing the US has TO offer the protesters
yeah I don't think they're 100% a troll so much as coming in trying to prove they're the wisest and anything else is meaningless. either way, not a great loook
ANYWAY so yeah, if you want to remind people of how big a picture this is, how important voting is, that's fine. is it the best course of action? who the fuck knows, but i can understand the good intent.
but getting all snobby and dismissive about "people on the internet"- as if we just exist in non-corporeal forms with no physical or social affect on society or the world- is so prickish
I realize this isn't the point, but who wants to bet I can find someplace to donate money in like, seconds, demonstrating how little effort they actually put into their scolding?
for those who don't have the plurk, i just outright pointed out "no one is asking you to leave because you challenged them, it's because you're being a prick right now"
But by kicking me out, because I challenged you, you are losing an opportunity to broaden the issue, and maybe even reach more people
