Apple folks. I downloaded a program into a Macbook. I see it there - on the desktop screen.
Now it says move it to the "Applications".
Where is them? I found an "App Store" (link) that wants me to buy stuff, but don't think that's the same place. (unsure)

go to finder and get to the applications folder. Macs don't install like windows does (shit going everywhere), they install like Linux, the whole program is in that executable and you have to put in in the folder where it can behave like a program (glossed over that explanation but it's close enough)

To access the Applications folder, go to the Finder by clicking the Finder icon in the Dock (it's usually the first icon on the left side of the Dock), or by clicking in a blank area of the Desktop. From the Finder's Go menu, select Applications.

Thankees, kesseret . Got that bit now.
It's SAM (the music software that SL used so often).
Now it won't open as "Security settings only allow downloads from official apps" - but I'll fix that bit.

I found all sorts of stuff in that folder. :-)

You also don't have to move things into the Applications folder, but it does make it easier if your apps are all in one place.
kesseret
that's good to know you don't. I store them there for easy backup.
kesseret
and also I don't know any better.

I suspect that means it will never work. :-(

I used to keep all my games in a separate folders. Now I am lazy, and leave them where they install, usually in the applications folder. And most installation downloads will have a shortcut to that folder so you don't even have to look for it: drag and drop and you're done.

And yes, it can work. You may have a newer version of Python than what is expected. If you get the 2.6 version in /Library/Frameworks/python.framework (not the system one), it may work. (Hopefully you won't need to do a full system reinstall, but if so, it's a lot easier than on Windows.)
