Spider Hider
I am starting to wonder if I'm being trolled by somebody.
Spider Hider
I was approached by a graphic novel publisher about adapting TGAB. After some back-and-forth discussing what exactly this would detail, they abruptly stopped answering me.
Spider Hider
The initial approach was on Discord so I can't say for sure this person actually worked for that company, which appears to be legit. So I contacted them via their website, and still got no response.
Spider Hider
So, ah well. It happens. I wrote that off; internet people just up and disappear sometimes.
Spider Hider
Shortly after that, also on Discord, I was approached by someone claiming to be from RIDI, the biggest ebook publisher in South Korea, about securing the translation and Korean language distribution rights for TGAB.
Spider Hider
Talked to them for a while, they actually sent me a draft contract, we negotiated terms to something agreeable to both parties, then they requested a mailing address to send me the physical contract.
Spider Hider
Sent them that, and they abruptly stopped answering me, too.
Spider Hider
It occurred to me that one may have been an elaborate scam to find my personal address, but I sent them a PO box, so if so, it didn't work.
Spider Hider
But like...damn. Did I piss off somebody with an enormous amount of free time, or what?

.... that’s.... weird.......
Spider Hider
And sure, the last episode was a few days ago. It probably takes at least this long for mail to get here from Korea, and I last contacted them on the weekend so there's also that.
Spider Hider
It just seems odd to get no email acknowledgment of my last message. They were very forthright and communicative prior.

maybe wait and see?
Spider Hider
Well, like, there's not much else I can really do.
Spider Hider
I figure if I've heard nothing by Friday I'll email them again to check. I don't wanna be pushy or anything.
Spider Hider
Stuff like this is why i'm physically incapable of getting my hopes up anymore.
Spider Hider
There's also that Korean business etiquette is totally over my head but I know there are things about it that are different from the West. I'm just unclear on the details of what.

you’re a westerner and this is presumably someone used to working with westerners, if they’re for translated acquisitions
Spider Hider
Well, he definitely speaks English, or at least writes it. With a few errors, but pretty much fluently.
Spider Hider
I'm assuming "he," the email address says his name is Ralph.
云深不吃素
that’s not an uncommon practice, to adapt an english name when expected to work with english speakers
Spider Hider
Yep. Korean names aren't unduly hard for anglophones to pronounce but in my experience a lot won't even bother to try...
Spider Hider
welp. Just saw them online on discord and sent a message. They went offline.
