apparently going by an ad on YouTube the average spent on an engagement ring last year was $6000 and I'm here like... man I'd honestly probably be upset if someone spent that much on a ring for me lol

the only way I wouldn't be actively upset is if they were super rich and even then I think I'd still be pretty uncomfortable

as someone who purchased an engagement ring last year............. I spent like $100. I felt like I was Supposed to spend more but a) it was the one I genuinely thought was nicest and b ) handmade by a local artist with lab created gems so like

yay supporting local artists, yay not buying blood diamonds,

it's still lovely and we can have that $5900 to do much better things with

yeah honestly I don't think I could handle it to be given anything over like 300....Canadian. more like 200 USD. not only spending guilt but fear of losing it would consume me every day???
